INFORMATION
This print is based on the work of George Orwell. In his book
“Keep the Aspidistra Flying”, new families tend to display an unwitting
expression of their middle class status by displaying these plants.
Almost a hundred years after Orwell’s work, our own middle class is more
likely to be punctuated by lack of health care and stability. In this print,
I chose to represent the leaves of Orwell’s plant as the double helix in the
DNA, as a tangible connection to our instability and the uncertainty when
it comes to health care in the United States.
